Why We Built Vloom
Traditional study methods like expensive tutoring or generic study tools fail most students because they ignore individual learning styles. They dump too much information, lack structure, and don't adapt to how students actually learn or remember.
As Computer Science students at UBC, we struggled with these problems our entire lives—trying to make sense of endless notes, PDFs, slides, and recordings without any personalized support. We wanted a platform rooted in real learning science, powered by AI, and designed for the way students study today.
Our mission is simple: create a student-focused all-in-one learning platform that makes learning faster, easier, and more effective for everyone.

Mateo Cabanal
Co-Founder, Lead Developer

Tayvn focuses on frontend interface development while driving business strategy— including market fit research, competitive analysis, budgeting, and long-term planning.
How We Got Here
Vloom began as a student-built project at UBC to solve our own challenges with studying—turning chaotic coursework into clear, personalized study flows.
We built the first AI flashcard generator along with lecture intelligence, summarization pipelines, and personalized study modes.
Public beta launched with community features, workflow improvements, and constant iteration based on real student feedback.
